I completed my undergraduate degree in Sociology at University of California at Santa Barbara. I continued my education and earned my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy.
I worked at Open Paths Counseling Center servicing the community with individual therapy as well as facilitating groups for survivors of domestic violence. I continued my work in the community at a well-respected non-profit agency as an intern and later as a licensed therapist. I currently hold the position of senior clinician and administrative supervisor for their school based program.
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Life Coach (CLC). I have been providing psychotherapy to adults, children, and adolescents since 2000.
My training includes a number of evidence based practices such as Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP), Seeking Safety, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
My deep understanding for how hard it is for clients to deal with emotional issues such as depression, anxiety and life changing events such as birth, death, divorce and general trauma facilitates effective treatment planning. It is my goal to provide a judgment free environment for clients to self-disclose while containing their emotions for processing their experience.
Understanding that every individual is different and has specific needs, I utilize a client-centered and collaborative approach to create a highly customized treatment plan.
To become emotionally balanced, we will identify triggers, manage behaviors, and find the most effective coping skills to help improve daily functioning, and long-term solutions.
